Stepping Stones

stepping stones

I sat reflecting on the stepping stone
Sometimes a girl must think it out alone
I thought of love, of life, and prayed to god
Unanswered questions cast in earthly sin
Even then faith did seem overtly odd
Amid this beauty how could love be wrong
When love is the pulse of all living things
I felt the passion inside burning strong
But not the wisdom to ease living stings
This way of love beliefs would ne’er condone
Yet here I heard desire from old folk songs
I wanted the future they held therein
Amidst the wonder Mother Nature brings
I sat thinking, staring up at Great Dodd

  1. Ahhhh this is nice…. real nice. Amazing how we can confess such passion to Nature… she is like a loving attentive ear that listens to us, and assuring us we are never alone. Beautifully written my friend. :-)
